For strong profile headshots, the photographer must understand where the light sources are coming from. It is best to work with soft natural light if at all possible to allow for efficient workflow. If headshots require off camera flash, it will take longer to setup for each location change to ensure proper lighting is possible. Posing subjects is crucial to capture authentic emotions with a professional feel to the photograph. Location scouting is also very helpful to help prepare for stronger compositions.
